Try it
macOS is a perfectly good games machine wearing the wrong clothes. Console Pro (first called Apple Console Pro) is a full-screen, controller-first shell for an M1 Mac mini plugged into a TV: the ten-foot interface Apple never shipped.
What it does
Log out of your Mac and into a console. One shelf for every game, a boot sequence, and controller first. It launches your library, navigates entirely on a controller, and never makes you find a mouse. It sits over macOS rather than replacing it, so everything underneath still works.
Within days of the first beta in June 2026, it was launching Minecraft and an Android game (Brawl Stars) from the same shelf.
Where it went
It ran on the Mac mini under the TV. It’s now one of the projects in AppleX, alongside AppleSoft.
